Principal Geotechnical Engineer – Southeast or Yorkshire, UK

They have been around for 20 years and have over 50 people working across multiple offices. Our projects are mainly in the rail sector, but we also work in transportation, energy, and civil engineering.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a talent for building client relationships.

- Previous experience working in the rail sector (e.g. with companies like Network Rail, London Underground, TfL, etc.).
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Leading engineering projects, providing technical guidance, and ensuring successful delivery within budget and on time.
- Taking charge of designs for infrastructure projects like bridges, tunnels, stations, and buildings, using a variety of materials like concrete, steel, timber, and masonry.
- Managing multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with clients, and helping to drive innovation.
- Offering strategic direction and technical oversight for your team’s work.
You Should Have Experience With:
- 8+ years in the field, with a proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale projects.
- Geotechnical design and analysis, using tools such as Slope W, Settle 3, PILE, or similar.
- (If relevant to your experience) Structural design using tools like LUSAS, MIDAS, or STRAND.
- Leading and mentoring teams, managing projects, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Overseeing design and analysis for infrastructure projects.
- Providing approval and technical oversight for geotechnical designs.
- Conducting site visits, surveys, and inspections (you’ll need to hold a Sentinel PTS card, which we’ll sponsor).
- Ensuring project compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Managing project timelines, budgets, and ensuring the profitability of projects.
- Representing the company at industry events and helping with business development.
- Contributing to proposals and building relationships to secure new business.
